What are the two situations systems make sense and the one where they do not?

What are the two situations where systems make sense? And one where they don't? 

Welcome to today's episode? My name is Tom Rolley, excited to talk to you about this, this came out of a conversation with my mentor, Garrett J.

And He gave me an interesting question that which was when do systems make sense.

And He was like, Look, they make sense in two places.

One, when you're looking to scale, when you're looking to scale, you're going to need systems to deploy so you can move quickly so you can get more marketing messages out and deploy them into your sales funnels into your ads into your products.

That this ability to scale is reliant on systems, you can do it without a system, but you will struggle you will not be able to get as many messages to mark you will not be able to test as quickly.

You will be deploying perhaps let's say it's two weeks to go yep, let's run a test.

But if you had systems you could do it in two days.

So that means over the two weeks your competitor is using the system has seven more tests out there, seven more chances to locate that winning campaign that is returning significantly more than your ad spent just means more hooks in the water.

Imagine a fishing boat with one hook in the water and one worm versus one with 14 in the ocean.

Chances go significantly up now you're only looking for that one big fish.

But your chances are a lot better when you got 14 hooks.

This is the power system.

So scaling is the first situation the second situation, things going well.

You've actually found your fish your booming you go yes, yes, yes!

Let's go bring your more team, a lot has happened.

And now you need to stabilize, yes, stabilize is the second place where systems make sense.

Suddenly, with the growth, you can have an option of whether you choose to continue to expand but there is risk in that there will be an opportunity and a requirement for you to build out and stabilize, build the foundations, lock in the learnings lock in the experiences.

And this is the second place where systems are required.

The cool thing is after you have stabilized guess what you get to do you get to go back and scale again.

And then when you've scaled you stabilize again.

And so there's a game of scaling and stabilize, scale and stabilize, scale and stabilize all running on systems.

So what's the one place where systems don't make sense? Well, the one place that doesn’t make sense is early on in-game when you're testing a new business when you're just looking for cash flow, are you looking for sales, then hey, you can duct tape it together.

You don't need to document every fine detail you don't need to know Hey, this is where you click this is how you do it know you're in problem-solving mode.

You're in testing mode.

You just need to get out there and get stuff done get some momentum to get some sales to get to that first place where you're like you know what we need to stabilize we've got some wins that first place is a one of stabilization before that if you're not there, there's no point going to systems not that let me rephrase that there's one part-time let's say that you're on your second business on your third business where you bought a business that you're looking to rehab and you know systems already guess what then find deploy you already have an extensive set of working systems you know these work you know that these will get the results that you need.

Find go for it just deploy from the beginning.

But if you are on your first business, then this is not the time to build your systems.

Once you have your wins once you have your customer base once you have that initial will rise to oh my goodness, we are working we are doing this.

This could look like five figures a month this could look like protect potentially even six figures a month in revenue.

And you're like what we need to get some systems in here because otherwise, we will not be able to scale.
