Why does everything work better with full batteries?

Dec 16, 2021

Why does everything work better with full batteries and whether you've run into this phenomenon before? But if I have been running late, underprepared, and hoping that at the moment I'll manage to get technology to work, technology that runs on batteries, then invariably, perhaps not invariably, look, sometimes I get lucky, but usually nothing works.

And so over life, over the years, I've learned that in order for things to work electronically, it makes a hell of a lot of difference when the batteries are charged.

I don't know why this is, you would think that it would just be fine.

But in actual fact, it does seem when everything's fully charged up, ready to go, it works better.

Why is this? Well, one potential thing is that it eliminates a cause of problems, there's one less thing to worry about because the batteries are full.

As you head down into a half or a quarter, perhaps you will be fine.

But many times I have expected batteries to last and they haven't even got through an hour of a two-hour recording.

And this has also led me to go you know what better than batteries is hardwired.

Tonight and performing.

I've got a Qi Aton if you're not familiar with cutaneous, you can look up a gentleman called Krishna Das.

He is like the godfather of Kyrgyzstan.

And it's a particular type of music that comes out of India and is used in chanting.

It's designed as repetitious mantras that are sent over and over to create meditative states.

I just really happen to like it.

My attempts at recording so far have been limited have been not limited.

My attempts have been solid, my results have been limited.

Why? Because I time after time, something else will go wrong.

And so tonight, I'm like, You know what, I just want this to work.

So last night batteries were prepped.

I set my meet.

Yeah, if you're not familiar with meevo It's kind of cool.

This should be really cool.

It should be here it is This is a Meebo.

It's got the battery pack.

But this has caused more problems, then.

It's it is It's been unbelievable.

I'm like, Why won't it work.

But one of the issues has been the infamous lack of batteries.

Now you can see that it got five bars, which means that I should be ready and ready to roll for tonight's performance.

The other thing that was extremely helpful was actually running a test run.

Now I've used it before.

And usually, it works.

But I just wanted to run through.

So the performances tonight lunchtime today.

I'm like, You know what, let's check it all.

And it works.

So that's good.

My final tip on all of this is to not leave preparation to the last minute.

While it might be tempting when I arrive at the concert to talk to people and have coffee and chat around.

The actual requirement is to get the cameras working, make sure that they're plugged in, make sure that they're set up and recording.

And from there.

Once that is done, great, I can relax.

One of the times I set everything up and then forgot to press record.

Now all of these devices that are recording have massive amounts of memory, there was no requirement to save 15 minutes of recording.

It's just we'll fix it in editing, just chop, goodbye.

But what happened was because I forgot to turn on the cameras, they just didn't record at all.

This was particularly frustrating.

So what can we take from all of this? Well, number one, get your batteries fixed, get them full.

If you're recording if it's mission-critical, get them for better than batteries is of course hardwired.

Get that going next up, set up and make sure that it works and run the test beforehand.

Finally, if there is anyone else that can manage it, then get them to do it.

So that there's someone actually watching and checking and making sure that the recording is being done to specification.

All of this is extremely helpful.

But notice that the lesson that I want you to take from it is error after error after error leads to success improvement.

Improvement only comes from those errors.

All right, that's all I got for today.

Hope you enjoyed this presentation.

I certainly enjoyed making it for you as we continue this exploration of the power systems' great results.

Look forward to seeing you on the next episode.
