What to do if you are sick of micromanaging your people.

Welcome to today's episode, my name is Tom Rolley.

I'm excited to talk about this because this is a really common way of looking after business.

And that is that you tell your team what to do, hey, I want you to do this, I want you to do that.

I want you to do this, I want you to do that.

Have you taken care of this? Did you forget to do that all of these verbal instructions coming from you as the business owner? And your team's like? Yeah, yeah, of course, we got it, I got it, I've got some other stuff.

I'm kind of behind them.

I've been working on this, I've been working on that.

And you now have a problem.

This means that you have to tell your people and follow up on them, you're now tracking them to make sure that they do their job.

This is very frustrating.

This is exhausting.

This means that you basically spend your whole day looking after your team is a babysitting, I mean, they're adults come on, like they should be able to work out what to do.

But unless the work that they are doing is very consistent, It doesn't change much, then you're going to have a problem, you're going to have a problem of telling what they're up to.

And you're going to have trouble telling them, Hey, this is how you do it.

And if you've got any number of teams, you've got five 710 12, eventually there'll be so many people, you cannot tell them what to do, like, it'll be impossible for you to do it.

And that means you've got rogue workers, you've got people who are just kind of doing their thing.

Maybe they're going the water cooler, maybe they're working on what they think you want.

But they didn't hear it right.

And this is entirely possible like and whether it's happened, you certainly happened to me where I'm just gapping happens, unfortunately, a lot with my wife, which are like kind of awkward.

She's like I told you, and like didn't I didn't hear you.

But this is happening in the workplace as well.

One of the really good ways is hey, can you tell me what you told what you heard, and they and you get them to repeat it back extremely useful, just to confirm that you're both on the same page.

But there is a better way.

And that better way opens up for your team to have the instructions for your team to know what they're working on, and involves systems and processes.

So if you actually want to run your business, so that you're running it so that you're the visionary, you're driving the direction, you're setting the pace, you're like, Okay, we are going here, instead of micromanaging your people and making sure that the menu should get done.

Hey, guess what it's important that they do, do the minutiae.

But your solution to that holds in two things, one your systems and to your processes.

So here's what to do.

Number one, get your team to track their processes, like track the work that they're doing.

And secondly, get them to use the instructions.

Those two things together are your systems and your processes and they come together to give you one thing, the one thing that you want your results.

And if you get results guess what this means you're making money.

This means that you're home on time.

This means that you're flying business, you're going on holidays, you're going to Vail you're going to Maui.

get laid, life is good get to go on the date nights, you get to give go you know what I'd like to give to my kids school I'd like to give to that experience for another person of benefit.
