Upgrading your business.

All right, welcome to today's episode, what is up, we got some action here at the house and I want to share with you.

So my dog's been a bit excitable.

And let's go have a look here.

And I'm going to show you you're going to hear a little bit of noise.

It's pretty noisy.

But when I flick over, you're going to be able to see what's happening.

I'm excited about this.

So we're at my property right now down the bottom is a cottage which is an Airbnb, it's got broken headed cottage, my wife runs it.

And as I, as I flick over here to the camera, I'm going to talk you through what you see here.

So so there's the cottage there, and then that there is some serious road work machinery going to work here.

Now, this may look pretty flat from where you are.

But this is actually quite a steep hill.

And this has been the bane of our existence for a while in terms of Airbnb, the Airbnb is awesome.

Like it totally works.

But for this one thing, now, people would come and they would come in two-wheel drive cars, little cars, and they're just not used to existing rurally.

And so they come down from Brisbane or they come down from the Gold Coast, they bring cars that were relatively inadequate like four-wheel drives make a big difference.

Living in Byron Shire, the roads here just aren't the greatest, even though they put a lot of work into it, they are still not wonderful, in fact, right at the end of our street is on Strava, what's known as the shittest Road in Byron.

So that's it's more potholes than road.

But these guys are upgrading our entire driveway here.

Now, this is not the cheapest experience.

And we've held off for some time.

But in the end, it was like we have to get this done, we have to make this work.

Because Oh, that's great, thanks, cause just a little deposit there.

That's cool.

Let's head back in and talk about this a little bit more.

So you can see what's going on, you can see that we're getting a new driveway.

I'm excited about this.

Because this actually means that the entire experience for our guests gets upgraded, let me close this door and bring the thing.

So that means that there's actually a more consistent experience for them, there's actually a better experience, they don't worry about the road that is just taken care of.

And they can come and experience what they paid for, which is a relaxing, worry-free experience in the bar and Shire.

Like we're really close to the beach, we're really close to Suffolk Park, we're close to Byron, and we are private as anything.

And this is a valuable experience.

But when they come in, they're like, oh, I'm not sure about the road, it already puts that small seed of doubt in their mind about what's going on.

So, this investment into the property, to me is very significant to ensure that their entire experience is one of enjoyment of relaxation and that it does not start off with fear that the road will be too hard for the vehicle.

We actually had someone come about two weeks ago with a camper van and they drove down and then they freaked out about it, though like is it going to be able to get up the road.

That is not what I'm looking for.

And so by making this improvement and making this upgrade, it actually increases the experience of the entire visit.

And this is going to be the same in your business like areas will be working really well.

But somewhere will be a place that needs an investment that needs some work that it needs an upgrade.

And that by working on that and in resolving it to a place where it now operates effectively and efficiently and that your customers come through with a consistent experience.

This actually increases the value of your entire offering.

The thing to do is that unless you're a startup if you're a startup find just get it done.

But after a while, once you've got a team, you're going to need to learn that investing in systems makes a big difference for your business.
