Remote work is chaotic...

Hi, and welcome to today's episode, my name is Tom Rolley, the system I want to discuss an interesting post that got sent to me by a friend of mine, we have been looking over the last five episodes at the challenges that come to a business owner to an entrepreneur, as they actually have success in business as you start to hit that one to 3 million in revenue and five to seven employees, that what was working suddenly no longer works.

And you find yourself as the entrepreneur now being the sole source of how to do things of what to do that direction, the troubleshooting.

And all of this comes down to a lack of systems and processes.

What's interesting is that up until that point, it works pretty well you can get by just by duct taping together to work out the problems and get that done.

But beyond that level, then that method no longer works.

There are just too many moving parts too many people too much change in how things are done.

And suddenly you start to see uncertainty and inconsistency in the way that your business is performing across all areas of business in the marketing and sales and the fulfillment in your back end in miss payments in late fees, in a general sense of continually having to put fires out, instead of going to the source being able to resolve the source problem, and then move on.

If you are able to do this, that's wonderful.

Suddenly, you get a business that is worth far more than is saleable.

That has redundancy built into it.

But before we jump into the good things that can come from this, I wanted to share this article that a friend sent me it's from tech Republic in the UK, they did a survey, I believe Cornell University, and they said that at least five hours per week are getting wasted by Team cycling between programs trying to work out what to do find things a general sense of chaos.

They said that this has been a result of the massive increase in people working remotely people working from home.

And yes, that it may be significantly difficult just to have kids around.

But this is just looking at actually getting the work done.

It's now really difficult.

And they said that nine out of 10 of the workers said that worse work, life was getting worse as a result of this.

What was also interesting was that people were going to rogue solutions, they were downloading other apps, they were downloading other software to get stuff done, there was a lack of consistency in how things actually got done in that business.

And that certainly opens up for increased vulnerabilities in terms of tech.

And this is a problem this will lead to inconsistencies in the way things are done.

It also means that a team is vulnerable should a particular person not come into work, no one knows how that's done, where that got up to, things get stuck.

So this problem isn't going away.

And this has been a very challenging situation.

One of my friends has gone through this what was working well in the office environment suddenly went chaotic.

When all of the team had to work remotely.

And the difficulties of this have meant that He has been working exceptionally long hours suddenly 7080 90 hour weeks, were required just to try and manage this situation, which is exactly what you would expect from a business that is running on human memory human solutions instead of having documented processes.

This is a conversation that you must get across if you are looking to scale beyond the 1 million in revenue or just in case your team has gone remote.
