Key functionality when choosing a project management system. Asana vs Clickup vs Monday?

Welcome to today's podcast, and live session.

My name is Tom Rolley of SystemIO.

I want to discuss a critical decision that you may be faced with when selecting between project management software's.

Now, up until a certain size of your business, you can probably get by with management by meetings or management by emails, hey, do this, do this, do this, do this.

But eventually, you may get frustrated with that style of management in terms of the lack of optics that it has, it's like Did that get done, or it ends up being like these endless emails back and forwards back and forwards, or you're just like, You know what, we have too many people.

Now in order to actually know what everyone's working on and know what everyone's doing at once, we need to have project management software.

And when that decision comes, then it's an interesting time, because a lot of the project management software look reasonably similar.

They have similar functionality.

Some of them are faster, some of them smoother, some of them have different colors, all of that kind of stuff, you're going to run into two main styles.

One is a combat style.

So like Trello.

And then the second one is like a table style.

This could include Monday Asana, click up, perhaps even air table.

And and they are they're kind of like a spreadsheet, they've got rows and they've got columns, and they can do cool stuff.

But when you are facing this question, you may not appreciate that one of the critical choices you want in this project management software is the ability to see what's going on for particular team members, and what's going on across the entire business.

This view of hey, what are people working on? What are people stuck on? What are people aiming for? What are we trying to achieve across the business? This is critical.

And I mean, I'm I've been using Monday, a long time I literally was using Monday back when I was called to pulse.

I know if you guys remember being called DeVos.

But that was some years ago.

And so I've been a I've been using Monday a long time, but one of their lacking features for quite some time was disability to do exactly what I described.

Luckily, about two weeks ago, they brought this feature out, it's like oh, wow, okay, I can switch between team members, I can bring up each team member by themselves and see what they're working on.

I can bring all of us up at once.

See what we're working on together, see where we're behind, see where we're going.

It's extremely helpful.

When this is something that you may well want to assess for clickup and asana and a table or any of the project management software that you are trying to use, then this is a critical question.

Well, well, do you know what project management software is? No.

Okay, cool.

Well, it's a really cool way of managing projects in a business.

And lets you have lots of people working in a business at once.

And you can all know what's going on.

So it's a really cool decision.

I think that this is something that you should try all the different software's particularly, not only how does it do the work of the business, but also, how are the optics set up this this feature of Monday, it's fascinating that they, they didn't have this, but it really has been a game changer.

They had an original version that didn't work this work that well.

And then they brought out a a trial version.

And then they've now nailed it.

I'm like, Oh, this is great.

This is really cool.

So if you're not sure, go with Monday, but that is something that you should consider.

When you are facing the decision.

It's like, get on the trial, run a bunch of team members, put them on work as if they were doing work and then go, Okay, who can I see? Can I see each team member individually? Can I see all of my team members at once? Can I see a project view? Can I see a team view all of these things they should be able to handle but the ease of it, the easier it is, the easier it is for you to run your business and have optics on what's going on in your business.
