Don't score a Zero! Why your bad days have more to do with your success than your good days...
Aug 06, 2022Don't score a zero, don't score a zero.
Why do your bad days have more to do with your success than your good days?
It's late at night here; living 15, I've had a massive day; I had a choice.
hadn't done any exercise, not mine.
And I can't; I can't put in a 45-minute intense training session right now, mess up my sleep.
Instead, just did a walk 1.
Six days, something like that.
Not that far; walk the dog.
But this is a bad day.
And the fact that I did something is critical.
This Facebook Live video as well represents another decision that is not going to be long.
But He got down.
And in both of these cases, I get to mark off and say habit got done.
This comes straight out of chapter 16.
Atomic habits by James Clear.
This is a powerful chapter; the powerful Chapter talks about the benefits of tracking habits.
That by tracking them, it forces me to mark off and say, Yeah, I did that.
And I can look.
And I don't get to lie to myself in my head about what I did.
He's very clear in saying that humans generally, perhaps for whatever reason, I don't know what a reason it is.
But I've noticed that, but my mind will tell me that I've done more than I have.
And occasionally, I'll go through Yep, complete, totally complete, big project complete.
And then I'll find some stuff that's not been done.
So without tracking, have no visibility.
But particularly when it comes to habits, there's a benefit of keeping the streak alive, not scoring zero, even if it's a relatively poor effort, if it's just a 1.
6k walk, or it's just a short Facebook Live late at night, but the streak continues, and the habit continues.
And on those days when I don't want to do it at all, I can look back and see and know that I have done it day in, day out, day in, day out.
And He goes on to say that all streaks eventually will end but that does not counteract the benefits of tracking.
That's all I got for it's a short one.
Tracking your habits.
It's extremely similar to tracking, and systems without it can't see.
I'd be having a great day.
